Creation or Evolution

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, Elohim (“God”) created the heavens and the earth.”

According to what we know, the universe came into being between 13.7 billion and 15 billion years ago. That of course is from our perspective as we can observe a universe that is expanding. The Hubble Telescope and other instruments show that expansion is taking place. This means that there must have been a beginning or a Big Bang that started the expansion. This is very similar to fireworks that explode and push everything outward from its inception. The explosion that would have occurred to produce the universe as we perceive it, would have created a blinding light that would have lasted over 300,000 years. After 325 million years, what came into existence would have begun to be observable as the light from the initial blast subsided. As a result of this event, space, matter, time and energy came into existence.

Genesis 1:2a: “The earth was without form and void; darkness was upon the face of the deep.”

Isaiah 42:5 “Thus says God the Lord he who created the heavens and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth…”

Psalm 104:2 “Who covers yourself with light as with a garment; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain.”

Stars and galaxy’s came into existence as a result of the creation event. In the 21st century, as we look outward we have determined that there are 10 billion trillion stars (10 with twenty-one 0’s) included in millions of galaxy’s. The galaxy’s took the form of a cluster- or spiral-shape. Clustered galaxy’s have millions of stars collected together in close proximity. Any planets that would have come into existence would be extremely hot due to the nearness of these stars. Spiral galaxy’s have spaces between spiral arms. The center of a spiral galaxy has a high density of stars like the spiral arms, but the area between spiral arms, between the center and the outer extremes of the galaxy, has a variety of stars. The area on the outer reaches of the galaxy is relatively uninhabited with stars. Therefore, close to the center or at the outer reaches of the galaxy do not produce the optimal conditions for life. Close proximity to stars not only makes a planet too hot but the radiation produced would make life impossible. Stars that are too young or just formed from the gases generated by the initial explosion would be too unstable. Stars that are too old begin to expand until they nova. Stars that are too small would not generate enough heat and those that are too big would make the presence of water impossible. The existence of stars would mean nothing unless planets also came into existence just the right distance from a star that was not too young, too old, too small or too big. The Hubble Telescope has peered into space and observed over 100,000 stars. Of these only 100 have a solar system or planets that orbit the star. Of these, Hubble has observed only 6 stars that are not too old, too young, too small or too big. Of these 6 only one has a planet that is located in a zone that can support life. Meaning this planet orbits a star that is just the right size, not too young or old and the planet is in a zone that supports life. If you are wondering which planet that is…well you live on it.

Genesis 1:2b “The Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.”

Isaiah 40:13 “Who has directed the Spirit of the Lord or being his counselor had taught him?”

The God (Elohim) who brought all of this into existence sent HIS Spirit to mold the earth. The Creator created not only the earth but the moon and stars as well. If God created the universe, he brought order into the void of nothingness, all so that our earth would be placed in the right kind of galaxy, in the right location in that galaxy, and just the right distance from a star that is perfect to sustain life.

Genesis 1:3 God said, “Let there be light and there was light.”

Psalm 33:6,9 “By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth…for HE spoke and it was done; He commanded and it stood fast.

Genesis 1:4-5 “God saw the light was good and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light day and the darkness he called night. The evening and the morning the first day.”

This evening and morning was from God’s perspective, not the perspective of man since the earth, moon, and stars were still being formed.

From the moment of the Big Bang, the universe came into being and began to expand as the blast pushed outward in all directions. Therefore, the energy released in the very next moment after the explosion took longer to travel at the same rate of speed because the universe that came into being was now expanding. This became what we know as distance. Look up in the sky. We know this is true. Time from the point of view and place of the initial blast, i.e. cosmic time (God’s point of view), is different from the concept of time from that which came to be and is moving through the universe. In the first second of the initial event, the universe expanded 186,000 miles. The first minute, 11,160,000 miles. The first hour, 669,600,000 miles. In the first 24 hours, as we can determine, the universe expanded 14,870,400,000 miles. Keep in mind that this is the outward distance of the universe reached by the light from the initial blast. The light and material that came into being from this event continued for 300,000-350,000 years. After this period ended, contrast between light and darkness developed. Regarding the singularity, time came into existence instantaneously, but, from the the moment of the Big Bang, time existed up to 350,000 years. Since everything came into being from 13.7-15 billion years ago, the events as described here would have taken us to 7.75 billion years before the present day.

Genesis 1:6-8 “God said let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters. God made the firmament and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament and it was so. God called the firmament heaven. The evening and the morning the second day.”

Job 37:18 “Have you with him spread out the sky which is strong and as a molten looking glass?”

II Peter 3:5 “…By the word of God the heavens were of old and the earth standing out of the water and in the water.”

Proverb 8:27-29 “When he prepared the heavens I was there; when he set a compass upon the face of the depth. When he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep. When he gave to the sea his decree that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth.”

The perspective now changes to the earth. We know this because water is mentioned. For water to be mentioned, there must have been a prolonged period of warming and cooling to bring water into existence.

For all of this warming and cooling to occur to bring water into existence it would have taken from the beginning to 7.75 billion years before the current day. The adaptation of the current atmosphere would take another 4 billion years.

Genesis 1:9-13 ” God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. God called the dry land earth and the gathering together of the waters he called seas: and God saw that it was good. God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed and the fruit tree yielding fruit after its kind, whose seed was in itself after his kind: and God saw that it was good. The evening and the morning the third day.”

Psalm 104:6-8 “You covered it with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At your word they fled, at the voice of your thunder they departed. The mountains went up and the valleys went down into their place which you founded for them.”

Jeremiah 5:22 “…My presence has bound the sea with sand by perpetual decree that it cannot pass, and though the waves toss themselves they cannot prevail though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it?”

The time period necessary for land to appear and for a misty atmosphere to interact with the land and bring forth herbal and tree life would have taken place between 3.75 billion and 1.75 billion years ago.

Genesis 1:14-19 “God said, ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons and for days and for years. Let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth;’ and it was so. God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lessor light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth to rule over the day and over the night and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good. The evening and the morning the fourth day.”

Psalm 8:3 ” When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars which you have ordained. Ps 104:19 “He appointed the moon for seasons…”

Jeremiah 31:35 “Thus says the Lord, which gives the sun for the light of day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves roar; The Lord of hosts is his name”

These lights would be visible from the earths surface from between 1.75 billion years ago to 750 million years ago. The earth needed a satellite that was just the right size to stabilize our axis at 23 degrees off center to ensure the change of seasons and to control the tides in our oceans. Our planet is located in the habitable zone. If our planet was closer to the sun the gravitational pull of the sun would slow our planet’s rotation. The sun would bake the planet. The days would be much longer and the nights much longer. These continual temperature extremes would doom life. This would occur with only a 1% change in our orbit. Since we are 93,000,000 miles from the sun a 1% shift closer would bring us 930,000 miles closer. Life on earth would end. The oceans would evaporate. If the earth was outside of this zone the planet would spin faster. Life would not be possible. If the earth were 930,000 miles further away from the sun the oceans would freeze and stay frozen. Water is necessary for marine life, terrestrial life, and our distance from the sun and position of the moon are necessary for the appropriate gravitational pull on earth to support life and the proper rate of evaporation necessary to produce rain over land masses. The distance we are from the sun and the size and distance our moon is from the earth stabilizes the earths rotation. Our solar system also includes other planets that are necessary for the continuation of life. All of the planets in our solar system are on the same plane. The other solar systems that we can observe do not have planets on the same plane. The position of these outer planets help protect the earth. Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter are much larger planets than the earth. Large planets create a much larger gravitational pull. Therefore, these planetary giants need to be far enough away from earth as to not interfer with our orbit. The size of these planets draws meteors and comets to strike these massive giants. Neptune is so far away that the suns influence on it is diminished. It stays in its orbit because of an outer asteroid belt that stabilizes its orbit. There is also an outer comet belt. This also has a purpose. Occasionally, these comets enter our solar system. The earth annually passes through the tail debris that the comets leave in space. The debris re-energizes the earth’s atmosphere so that it can protect us from the suns increased luminosity. Since our sun is getting older, it has become 17% brighter in the past 10,000 years.

Genesis 20-23 “God said, ‘Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that has life and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.’ God created great whales and every living creature that moves which the waters brought forth abundantly after their kind and every winged fowl after his kind, and God saw that it was good. God blessed them saying, ‘Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.’ The evening and the morning were the fifth day.”

The vapor contained in the atmosphere was necessary to sustain plant and animal life. Small organisms need water so that they can reproduce and become food for plants and bugs. Plants grow, blossom, turn to seed, fall to the ground, and make other plants. Bugs get food from blossoms and bring pollen into the blossoms which causes fruit and vegetables to grow. This occurred from 750 million years to 65 million years ago. We know at the 65 million year mark there was a mass extinction. 90% of all life, as of that time, disappeared as a result of an asteroid strike in the Yucatan Peninsula. The dead and decaying flesh from the prehistoric life decomposed into the ground and helped solidify the development of precious metals and the great oil fields.

Genesis 24-25 “Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth the living creatures according to its kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth, each according to its kind;’ and it was so. And God made the beasts of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.”

Plant life reconstitutes and the 10% of animal life that survived eats fruit, vegetables and some plants in order to live. These animals produce waste that fertilizes the ground so that plants continue to grow which continues the food chain.

All the events that occurred previously were necessary to prepare the earth for the creation of human kind and humans ability to use what the earth contained for the benefit of humanity. God brought forth the animals that we see today to make them plentiful for the humans he was about to create. The extinction event of 65 million years ago brought about the proper conditions for the creation of human kind thousands of years ago.

Genesis 1:26-31 “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’ And God said, ‘See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food;’ and it was so. Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”

To be created in God’s image means that humankind was given the attributes of the creator. All of the other life forms were given instinct in order to survive and reproduce. Humankind was given a gift that no other creature could duplicate. Humans could create. When anyone sees a book, house, buildings, airplane, table, chair, stadium, street, instruments, cities, rockets, etc…no one wonders if any of these things evolved. They were all created by people. No other life forms can do this. To believe in evolution, one must believe that we mutated from lower life forms when life as we know it shows that trees bring forth trees; monkeys, monkeys; birds, birds; fish, fish; cattle, cattle; people, people; etc… Nothing in life evolves from a lower form to a higher form. Life-forms only decay. The human race creates itself since the time of the first humans. All people die and decompose to dust. Dust does not come together to create a person. Steel will eventually rust. The titanic is rusting and will eventually disappear. Rust never comes together to create steel or an ocean liner.

The fact that there are 10 billion trillion stars proves that the universe is fine-tuned. If there were less stars, then sufficient elements would not be present for life as we know it. If there were many more stars, then they would have used up the essential elements that we need for life. If the universe was not composed of 72% dark energy, then the universe could have expanded too fast for the elements to come together to create stars, planets, comets, and galaxies. If not enough dark energy, then the elements would have come together in much more mass and the attraction of matter would have collapsed all that exists. Mass density and Space energy density had to be perfectly aligned for the universe to expand at the proper rate to eventually support life. There are over 800 events that had to occur as they did for the possibility of life to exist. The probability that they all came together as they did over 15 billion years is 1/10 to the 215th. In other words, impossible. Therefore, to believe in the randomness of evolution is to believe in the impossible.

What we know. A single cell is much more complex than our most sophisticated computer. Yet, are we to think that this cell came together by chance from nothing with no planning and design, and eventually became the male and female of every species on earth? If this is so, than all the materials needed to become our most complex computer could in time assemble itself without planning, design, and a creator. Well, we do have those missing links. Let’s take a look:

Lucy: Experts now agree that Lucy was a three foot chimp

Heidleberg man: Built from a jawbone that scientists now know was human

Nebraska man: Built from one tooth now known to come from an extinct pig

Piltdown man: Jawbone now known to come from an ape

Peking man: All the evidence from this supposed 500,000 year old missing link has disappeared

Neanderthal Man: Now known to come from an old man with severe arthritis

New Guinea Man: Found in 1970 to still exist just north of Australia. From aboriginal stock, i.e., a modern man

Cro-Magnon Man: Equal on physique and brain size to a modern man, i.e., a man the same as us

Modern man: Cannot accept that a loving God created the Universe just for us and came to earth to die for our iniquity so that those who accept this gift may spend eternity with Him. However, he does believe that we evolved from monkeys. Though, it is still easier to teach a dog and cat where to poop than a monkey.

As for physical laws, how did gravity and inertia evolve if they were not created? The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can change from one state to another but cannot be created or destroyed. Yet with evolution all came into being from absolute nothingness without an originator. This violates the principal. Blind faith without proof is needed to believe in evolution without a creator. We already know that things we cannot see do exist. The smallest molecule, the wind, and radio waves. Yet it is too much for many to contemplate a loving God who created all things and thereby brings purpose into existence. The second law of thermodynamics states that matter goes from order to disorder. The concept of evolution contradicts this law. To believe in evolution one must believe that disorder existed first then order came without a planner creator and of course with no purpose. If we believe that people, both male and female (for some reason both evolved at the same time otherwise how would all living things re-produce), came into being millions of years ago and each couple had 2.5 children there would be trillions of people on earth today. The biblical record from what we have starting with Adam and including a global flood some thousands of years ago allows for the 7 billion people that we have on earth today, not trillions.

The Bible allows for the explanation that I’ve shared because in Genesis 2:4 it states “These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day (time) that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens.”

Why the theory of evolution and not creation by a loving God? We are taught by our educators today that creation by God is not scientific, although those who teach such things admit that they do not know all that must be known. Rebellious sinful people do not want a God telling them what is right and wrong. They chose to determine what is right and wrong themselves. Believing in a godless evolution, for instance, then allows people to take a pro-abortion stance despite the fact that intimacy between members of the same sex can never result in life. Similarly, if the entire world became homosexual all life would end in give or take 100 years. Belief in this theory allows people to play god even though these same people will eventually die. Kindly consider the words written here. Bend your knee to the creator. Thank Him for bringing all of this into existence for you and accept the gift of his son Messiah Yeshua who by His death and resurrection brings us into reconciliation with God. In this, the purpose for creation is realized. Make yourself whole then go out and make disciples. Peace of the risen Messiah be with each and every one of you. Amen
