Muhammad, the Prophet of Islam was a product of his 7th Century A.D. animistic upbringing. Prior to his birth in 570 A.D. his home town Mecca was the center for Arabian polytheism. His tribe adopted a black stone that was viewed as having come down from heaven. It was one of over 360 deities at the Ka’aba in Mecca. The prevailing belief system at that time was Sabianism. In this system the male moon-god Allah married the female sun-god. This union produced three goddesses Allat, Uzza and Manat. Fasting at the appearance of the crescent moon in the ninth lunar month known as Ramadan was adopted from this belief system.
While practicing a pagan rite in a cave called Hira, Muhammad was visited by an angel of light that called itself Gabriel. The encounter was unsettling for Muhammad who contemplated suicide after the encounter. During subsequent encounters he would undergo epileptic fits and foam at the mouth. These visitations became the Quranic revelation. Muhammad taught that Allah was the one true god. Those who worship Allah, Muslims, must submit to Allah’s authority and become his slaves. After his mysterious night journey to heaven where he claimed to have met Abraham, Moses and Jesus he learned that Islam (submission) was the religion of Abraham which preceded the religion of Moses and Jesus. After the Hijrah, Muhammad’s forced migration from Mecca to Medina after being rejected by the majority of Meccans, Muhammad tried to convince the Jews and Christians to follow him. When the Jews rejected him Muhammad changed the direction of Muslim prayer from Jerusalem to Mecca which was still a polytheistic shrine. He then received additional revelations that permitted him to attack his enemies, loot Arab caravans and engage in the slave trade. Executions of those who opposed Islam were approved. Over three score battles were enacted which killed tens of thousands of people. Latter revelations approved the expulsion and genocide of Jewish tribes and the establishment of Islam as the only acceptable religion. Believers of Judaism and Christianity were expelled from most of the Arabian Peninsula. Ultimately Mecca was conquered and Islam was poised to burst out of Arabia and conquer the known world. That command has not been abrogated. Muhammad died in 632 claiming to have been poisoned by a Jewish woman after a battle at Khaybar. Elsewhere as Islam expanded into Byzantine territory Christians and Jews were relegated to resident alien status in their own homeland and heavily taxed.
Allah is the absolute sovereign and is unknowable. Even Muslims will not inherit paradise if they do not perform more good deeds than bad deeds through practice of the five Islamic pillars: Affirmation, Prayer, Almsgiving, Fasting and Pilgrimage to Mecca. The only sure way of attaining paradise is to be slain while slaying in the service of Allah. Muslims consider the Bible badly corrupted therefore the Quran supersedes the Bible and Islam will supersede Judaism and Christianity. The eschatology of Islam predicts the eventual extermination of the Jews and destruction of Christianity which will be carried out by the Islamic Jesus who is not the Son of God and was not crucified but rather a prophet of Islam, a slave of Allah.
Matthew 24:26 “So if anyone tells you ‘There he is out in the desert do not go out. Here he is in the inner rooms, do not believe it.”
1 John 4:1-3, 7-10 Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus has come in the flesh is from God…every spirit that does not…This is the spirit of the Anti-Christ…This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world…he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Titus 3:4-7 …Our Savior appeared…not because of the righteous things we had done…through Jesus Christ our Savior…having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
In Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 the Commandments are prescribed for righteous behavior. Have no god before God; You shall not bow down to worship anything created by man; You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God; Keep the Sabbath Day Holy; Honor your father and mother; You shall not murder; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not bear false witness; You shall not covet the possessions of others. Muhammad did not keep these commandments as recorded by Moses. Muhammad’s words and deeds are recorded in the Sira, Hadith and Tarikh. It is in these works and the Quran where we can read that Muhammad violated these statutes multiple times.
During Jesus’ Olivet discourse he talked about false prophets. In one instance he said after him if one in the desert says he is the one do not believe it. Jesus knew Muhammad and his teaching were coming and warned readers of the Gospel not to follow Muhammad. John later recognized the same spirit that entertained Muhammad. The denials that Muhammad enacted were the spirit of anti-Christ. Unlike Muhammad and his religion God showed his love to us because he sent His Son as atonement for our sin problem. Our Savior came, died for us and justified us through his grace unto eternal life.
In Islam its god and prophet think alike. Islam’s ultimate target are Jews and Christians. Their response to Muhammad’s illiteracy is accusations of biblical corruption perpetrated by Jews and by Christians accused of idolatry (Shirk) by worshipping Jesus. Islam’s response to those who refuse to submit is the deployment of Taqiyyah, Kitman and Murunah when Muslims are in a minority position like Muhammad in Mecca when he was not powerful. Islam responds with intolerance, subjugation and the sword when in control like Muhammad was as a warlord in Medina. Non-believers are destined to a torturous hell and Muslims gain a sensuous paradise if they die with a 51% to 49% good to bad deed ratio. Muslims are promised paradise if they are slain during an act of Jihad.
